Starting Salary £28,007 to £30,791 per annum
Band Salary £27,355 to £32,648 per annum

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a world leader in biological research, with an expanding scientific programme dedicated to understanding gene function in health and disease. It provides an unsurpassed environment for both new and established researchers. Scientists are drawn to the LMB from all over the world, creating a lively and international community for the exchange of ideas and technical innovation.

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Scientist, to work as part of a small, highly interactive team in the group of Dr Michel Goedert, to understand the molecular pathogenesis underlying common neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. The use of mouse models of tauopathy and synucleinopathy is central to this undertaking.

The successful candidate will have expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry and immunohistochemistry. You should have an MD and/or PhD in a biological subject or due to complete doctoral studies within 6 months of applying (in a biological subject) and significant relevant experience. You should show a methodical approach to laboratory work so that you can work with multiple samples simultaneously. Good communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and in a group are essential.

The successful candidate will be awarded a three-year MRC Career Development Fellowship/MRCPostdoctoral Training Scheme, which is a training and development position for a postdoctoral scientist who has recently completed doctoral studies or is moving into a new research discipline.

Working for the MRC provides a whole host of benefits including a final salary pension scheme, Benenden Healthcare membership and excellent holiday entitlement. You will also have access to employee shopping/travel discounts, on site sport and social facilities, as well as salary sacrifice cycle to work schemes and childcare vouchers.

This position is in collaboration with Eli Lilly where it may involve some work in their laboratory.
