Job Description

Drs. Liuqing Yang and Chunru Lin, from the Department of Molecular & Cellular Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, are interested in the functional role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in cancer. We have demonstrated the molecular mechanisms of long non-coding RNAs in a variety of signaling pathways, including those that regulate breast cancer metastasis and metabolic reprogramming (Cell 2014, NCB 2016). The laboratory has developed and modified a variety of technologies to study the mechanisms of long non-coding RNAs, including RNAscope, RNA pulldown, and in vivo lncRNA knockdown using Locked Nucleic Acids.
A postdoctoral fellow position is available to study lncRNAs in the immune response with particular interest in lncRNA involvement in T cell activation. The project will be identifying lncRNA candidates in activated T cells. We will dissect the underlying mechanisms of these candidates after genetic depletion or editing of these lncRNAs so that we can understand their functions in vivo.
Candidates should possess mastery of basic techniques in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, and mouse genetics. Applicants should also be independent thinkers who are willing to learn. The postdoc candidates should expect to join the lab in around six months or later, after the genetic knockout mice are ready. The salary will be based on the NIH postdoc salary scale.
