Post-doctoral associate
Fu Lab in Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Baltimore, Maryland (US)per annum + benifits
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Professor Dax Fu in Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This position requires a Ph.D. degree in cell biology or biochemistry related fields to study human zinc transporters in insulin-secreting pancreatic beta cells (http://fulab.johnshopkins.edu). A pancreatic zinc transporter, ZnT8 is a molecular marker and therapeutic target for detection and treatment of both type-1 and type-2 diabetes. We use a combination of membrane biochemistry and cell biology techniques to investigate ZnT8-mediated subcellular zinc distribution and cross talks with the insulin secretion pathway, and to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic reagents (full-length T1D antigens, conformation-specific mAbs). Experience with mammalian cell culture, cloning, cell imaging and animal experiments is required. Our research projects offer exciting career opportunities at the interface of basic and translational medicine. Motivated candidates with relevant research experience and good publication track records are welcome to send CV, electronic reprints of representative publications, and contact information of three references to dfu3@jhmi.edu.
