Division
The Department of Medicine, Solna consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The Dermatology and Venreology unit is located in buildings at the Centre of Molecular Medicine (CMM; http://cmm.ki.se/) The research is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups. The principal investigator Dr Jakob Wikström, MD PhD, work in close collaboration with the other dermatology oriented research Groups.

Duties
The position is open for a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in experimental Life science and proven expertise in cell and molecular biology, metabolism or mitochondria. The applicant will be responsible for planning and performing in vitro and in vivo experiements . The research Project is focused on the role of mitochondria in skin biology. We are looking for a highly motivated person with strong competence in running projects independently but also having good abilities for team work and cooperation.

Entry requirements
Applicant should have a PhD degree within the area of biomedical research and have strong interest in medical and biological problems. The applicant needs to have documented previous experience with cell culture and animal work. Previous experience with other animal disease models, competence in molecular biology, imaging and mitochondria is an advantage. Previous experience in supervising students and working with method development are meritorious.

The applicant should demonstrate ability to manage simultaneous projects and to interact well with others in the research group.

Scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies may be awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining all or part of their education. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher. Having received a salary or other remuneration from Karolinska Institutet during the past two years may be disqualifying.

One requirement for receiving a scholarship for postdoctoral studies is central registration as a postdoc.

Type of scholarship
Karolinska Institutet awards scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies. This educational scholarship, which is paid for a maximum of two years within four years after the receipt of a PhD or the equivalent, is tax-exempt.

The amount is set for twelve months at a time and is paid out on a monthly basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.

    academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
  2. A complete list of publications
  3. A summary of current work (no more than one page)
  4. Verifications for crediting of illness, military service, work for labour unions or student
  5. organisations, parental leave or similar circumstances
  6. Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)
