The Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The position is supported by an industry research grant. The aims of the research are clinical verification of a new proton therapy system featuring fast volumetric and layer rescanning and adaptive collimator, and development of adaptive proton treatment software. Specifically, novel methods and algorithms of data processing, medical image processing and radiation dose calculation are to be developed and applied to verify and evaluate the design and dosimetric benefits of a fast spot-scanning proton therapy system. The ideal candidate should have skills of computer programming, data processing, medical image processing, Monte Carlo simulation and basic knowledge of nuclear physics. Strong skills in scientific programming and medical image processing are desirable. Relative experiences are desirable but not mandatory. This position will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to pursue a career in the field of radiation oncology physics.

Education and Experience:
• PhD in medical physics, physics, nuclear engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
• Skills in computer programming using MATLAB and C++
• Experience of academic research and manuscript publication
