A postdoc position in quantitative biology/biophysics is available in the laboratory of Prof. Tijana Ivanovic at Brandeis University. We are looking for independent and motivated individuals who hold a Ph.D. degree in physics, physical chemistry, membrane biology, biochemistry, virology or a related discipline to join a multidisciplinary effort in addressing questions concerning virus translocation across biological membranes.

We apply and develop single-molecule/single-virus-particle imaging approaches, build instrumentation (TIRF microscopes, microfluidics flow cells), purify viruses or recombinant proteins, and use them for functional and structural characterization. Individuals interested in fundamental design principles of biological structures and processes, as well as those interested in the applied aspects of the mechanism-inspired inhibition of virus cell-entry are equally encouraged to apply. Considerable skill in a subset of the following areas is preferred: nanofabrication, microfluidics, single-molecule imaging, programming (e.g. MATLAB, LabVIEW), image processing, surface chemistry, and electron microscopy. The successful applicant should have a proven ability for outstanding research that is reflected in their publication record.
