Postdoctoral Position in Immunotherapy Targeting Cancer Stem Cells : Lausanne, Switzerland

A position for a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER is open in the group of“Cancer Stem Cell Biology” at the Swiss Institute for Cancer Research (ISREC) within the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Our research is focused on cancer stem cells (CSC) in various solid tumors using genetically engineered mouse models and patient samples (Nature 2008, 452:650-3; Nature. 2011, 481:85; Cancer Cell, Dec. 2015). In particular, we are interested to understand mechanisms of immune evasion and the immune modulatory functions of cancer stem cells. We aim to target CSCs by genetically modified T cells using chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) and related technologies. The long-term goal of our research is to define novel treatment strategies for the immunotherapy of solid cancers. This project has recently been supported by the Swiss Bridge Award and the Swiss Cancer League.

The group offers a creative international environment with the possibility to carry out high level research in an exciting and rapidly moving field. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with a track record of high quality publications and experience in adoptive T cell therapy, tumor biology, animal experimentation and molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Self-motivation and ability to work independently as well in a group are essential. Good knowledge of English (oral and written) is mandatory. Salary is available for three years; grant submissions are encouraged.
