Applications are invited for a 3-year MRC Postdoctoral Scientist research position in the Cellular Identity and Metabolism group at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) at the Hammersmith Hospital campus of Imperial College London. The CSC provides an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary research with excellent core support. For a description of the institute and details of core facilities.

The Cellular Identity and Metabolism group is headed by Dr Mathieu Latreille in the Genes & Metabolism section of the CSC. The group’s research is aimed at understanding how microRNAs (miRNAs) control the differentiation of pancreatic -cells during organogenesis and impinge on the maturity of -cells in adult organisms exposed to metabolic stress. This research project will provide a basis for the development of original therapeutic miRNA-targeting interventions aimed at reprogramming endocrine cells into functional -cells in diabetes.

We are looking for a highly-motivated, dedicated and creative scientist able to work independently. The successful applicant must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, biomedical sciences or related field) and have expertise in molecular biology, cell culture, microscopy and mouse genetics . Experience in embryology and development methods is desirable, but not essential.

This is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position to support post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career training and help establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly attractive benefits package including competitive salary and final salary pension scheme.

Applications are handled by UK Shared Business Services; to apply please visit our job board and upload your CV (with name of three references) and a cover letter describing motivation and scientific interests.
