he Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. (HJF) is seeking a Post-doctoral Research Fellow to support the Military Enteric Diseases Research Program, located at the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) in Silver Spring, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NMRC.
Specifically, the candidate will work on the Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) Vaccine Development Program. ETEC is a major global cause of childhood diarrhea and travelers’ diarrhea for which a safe, broadly protective vaccine has yet to be developed. Recently, NMRC completed a series of clinical trials with ETEC vaccine candidates that allow the development of methodologies and in-depth evaluation of cellular immunological mechanisms elicited by the vaccination. One of our main goals is the development and evaluation of assays that can help characterize the systemic and mucosal response to ETEC proteins.
