Postdoctoral Assoc. in Computational Genetics & Systems Biology
The Jackson Laboratory - Bar Harbor, ME
The Carter Lab at The Jackson Laboratory is seeking postdoctoral researchers in computational genetics and systems biology. Our group ( http://research.jax.org/faculty/greg_carter.html ) is developing novel computational methods to derive biological models from large-scale genetic data. We are especially interested in applying genetic and genomic approaches to projects in neurodegenerative disease, cancer, and mammalian meiosis.
The Jackson Laboratory ( http://www.jax.org ) in Bar Harbor, Maine, USA, offers a unique research and training environment characterized by scientific collaboration, unparalleled mouse resources, and outstanding core services within a spectacular setting adjacent to Acadia National Park.
The Jackson Laboratory’s postdoctoral program ranks among the nation's top - voted #2 in a poll of postdocs conducted by The Scientist (2009).
Required Skills Experience in gene expression analysis is strongly recommended, and applicants must have a commitment to solving biological problems and good communication skills. Experience with scientific programming languages including R, C/C++, Ruby, Perl, or Java is recommended. Expertise in cancer genetics, immunology, or neurological disease is desired but not required.
Required Experience Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent degree) in quantitative biology or another quantitative discipline such as computer science, physics, or applied mathematics.
