The Department of Neurosciences is dedicated to advancing the field of neurosurgery, providing leading-edge, compassionate clinical care and conducting unparalleled research for the full range of neurosurgical conditions and is led by Dr. Keith Black, an internationally renowned neurosurgeon and scientist. The Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute is the hub of the research and education programs. Research lab members are divided into several groups, each focusing on a separate research area including the blood-brain barrier, immunology, gene therapy and gene discovery. A unique strength of the Department of Neurosciences is the ability to translate research findings from the laboratory into clinical practice, giving patients direct and rapid access to the latest treatment alternatives.

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Pramod Butte and other Research Scientists, the Research Post-Doctoral Fellow will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period including: 1) design and implementation of experiments based on laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy including optical probe design, Demuxer design; 2) development of methods and algorithms for the image processing and near real-time deconvolution; and 3) theoretical and experimental research of the laser induce fluorescence spectroscopy and near infrared imaging.

May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Not responsible for grant funds.
