Conduct research to understand and maximize biological control of giant salvinia using the salvinia weevil in east Texas lakes to develop management strategies to integrate biological control with herbicidal control. This will include conceiving, designing, implementing and evaluating laboratory and field studies to characterize seasonal population dynamcis, including overwintering mortality and cold tolerance of salvinia weevil in Texas. Will involve comparing results with populations in Australia and Argentina to identify strains with potentially greater impact as a biological control agent of giant salvinia. Duties will include maintaining insect cultures and managing importation requirements, including quaratine procedures, for exotic animals.

Research to be reported and published in a timely manner in high impact, refereed journals, professional meetings, etc.
