We are seeking a postdoc to become part of the Microbial Electrosynthesis Group at the Center for Biosustainbility (CFB) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The positions need to be filled by 1 November – or as soon as possible thereafter.
Job description
The future postdoc will be working in a group focusing on the development of microbial electrosynthesis, a novel approach by which microbes convert electrical current into chemical commodities.
The postdoc position will focus on:
- Engineering electrotrophic bacteria for the production of chemical commodities.
- Optimizing electrotrophic bacteria characteristics to increase the efficiency of the microbial electrosynthesis process.
- Developing strategies to elucidate the mechanisms by which electrons are transferred from the electrode to the microbe.
The group is working within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, which has received funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation to develop the microbial electrosynthesis technology and make it commercially viable. The future postdoctoral research associate will work in collaboration with highly qualified electrochemists, microbiologists, biochemists and molecular biologists.
Qualifications
The candidate should:
- have a PhD or equivalent in relevant field
- have a proven track record within the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, synthetic biology, metabolic engineering and biochemistry
- have strong work ethics
- be a team player
Preferably the candidate should be proficient with anaerobic culturing techniques and ideally have applied molecular biology techniques on strict anaerobes.
