We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a post-doctoral position on a British Heart Foundation funded project (Principal Investigator: Professor Stuart Allan) to investigate the role of the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1 (IL-1) in cerebrovascular disease (stroke). The project aims to determine how peripheral IL-1 contributes to cerebrovascular inflammation, to identify the relative contributions of IL-1αand IL-1βin cerebrovascular disease and to test the therapeutic potential of interventions which are likely to be effective in wider vascular disorders.
You should have a PhD that involved a significant element of research on inflammation and a proven research record with skills and expertise in in vivo experimental approaches, cerebral ischaemia and CNS inflammation. You will join a large translational research group in the Faculty of Life Sciences, which is one of the largest groupings of biologists in the UK, with excellent research facilities. The post is fixed term for 3 years with a start date in October 2013.
