As part of the research group of Professor M. J. Rosseinsky, you will be responsible for the maintenance of existing equipment, the development of new equipment and measurements and the training of researchers in these techniques. The group consists of over 40 researchers using a wide range of state-of-the-art measurement and synthesis equipment. The range of equipment you cover will change with time as the needs of the research group changes. You will be pro-active in identifying and implementing improvements in the operation of the equipment. You will build and develop new instrumentation as well as introducing new externally purchased instrumentation into the group. Given the large group size and range of instrumentation, you will also need to demonstrate the ability to take responsibility and initiative, and to interact effectively with co-workers from a range of backgrounds. A PhD in chemistry, physics or materials science and a strong background in scientific instrumentation are essential.
