A postdoctoral position in RNA methyltransferase studies is available at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for a period of 12 months (with a possibility for extension), starting 1 August or 1 September 2013.

The postdoctoral fellow will work on a project concerning origin and dissemination of the cfr antibiotic multi-resistance gene and other similar RNA methyltransferases in bacteria. The project includes both aspects of enzyme function and aspects of gene identification, dissemination and expression. The project is already ongoing, but the applicant will be responsible for the further development of the project as well as finishing ongoing parts of the project in collaboration with other group members.

Applicants for the postdoctoral position should have a recent (less than four years old) PhD in Molecular biology, Microbiology or related disciplines. Research experience with bacterial gene cloning and mutagenesis, RNA primer extension analysis, docking/modelling, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics is considered an advantage. In addition the applicant should be fluent in English both orally and in writing. Experience in project planning and development and article writing is expected.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
