University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou)
Postdoctoral Fellow - Oocyte Meiosis
Description
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Balboula Lab at the University of Missouri. The Balboula’s laboratory uses mouse oocytes as a model system to understand basic molecular mechanisms that regulate meiosis I in order to understand why female gametes are notoriously error-prone (see Londono-Vasquez et al., Developmental Cell 2022 (doi.org/10.1016/j.devcel.2021.12.011); Kincade & Balboula, BioRxiv 2020 (doi.org/10.1101/2020.06.28.176594); Balboula et al., Journal of Cell Science (10.1242/jcs.189340); Balboula & Schindler, PLoS Genetics (10.1371/journal.pgen.1004194).
The candidate will conduct research using state-of-the-art approaches including the use of transgenic mouse models, genetic constructs, laser ablation and cutting-edge imaging technologies to investigate molecular mechanisms regulating spindle assembly and positioning during meiosis I.
The successful candidate:
·Should be self-motivated, well-organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team.
· Should have a background in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology and/or Genetics.
·Should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or an equivalent degree) at the time of appointment.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should send a CV/resume, and contact information of three references to abalboula@missouri.edu.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
