Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC)

Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Regulation of Hematopoiesis

A fully funded 4-year postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Lucas Lab in the Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to investigate how different microanatomical niches in the bone marrow regulate blood cell production in homeostasis and after transplantation. We want to understand how stem and progenitor cells engraft in the bone marrow and translate our findings to patients. This project builds on our unique imaging of hematopoiesis (see Nature. 2021 Feb;590(7846):457-462) and the extraordinary hematology environment at Cincinnati Children’s. The Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology Division is one of the leading research programs on normal hematopoiesis and malignant blood diseases in the US. The fellow will:

·    Participate in funded research projects and assist the laboratory in obtaining additional funding.

·    Design, conduct, and interpret experiments to dissect how the bone marrow functions during homeostasis, how hematopoietic stem cells and progenitors engraft in the bone marrow, and what are the anatomical structures regulating hematopoiesis the bone marrow

·    Perform high-dimensional data analyses of spatial information in the bone marrow.

·    Present findings at National and International meetings and write manuscripts

The ideal candidate:

·    Possesses a PhD or equivalent in hematology, immunology, cancer biology, developmental biology, or related field.

·    Willingness in working with vertebrates (musmusculus) is required.

·    Will have outstanding oral and written communication skills

Interested candidates should send a cover letter describing their background and interest in the position, a CV including bibliography, and contact information for at least three references to:
