Senior Research Fellow, Building Information Modelling

£42,149, rising annually to £46,042 Full Time, Fixed Term - Researcher

The Senior Research Fellow Building Information Modelling will be expected to build a centre for Architectural BIM research at Oxford Brookes, developing a comprehensive research agenda, obtaining funding for the research, and building a research team. As currently envisioned, this research study will evaluate the disconnects, failures, and successes of the use of BIM in architecture firms.

This is a full time, fixed-term appointment for 36 months.

Senior Research Fellow Building Information Modelling you will be responsible for:

  Carrying out research related to BIM development • Leading a research subgroup in the Design Theory Practice Research Group on BIM, positioning Brookes as a centre for Architectural BIM research in the UK

  Publishing REF returnable articles in internationally recognised academic/professional journals and write/contribute to books and monographs

  Assisting staff in the School with the development of grant proposals, networking and dissemination activities, and outputs for publication

  Attending conferences/workshops and present papers

  Assisting other staff in the School working on the same strategic research theme.

You should have:

  Demonstrable experience of working in Architectural BIM development, application, project management, or other professional roles

  Sufficient knowledge of Building Information Modelling in Architecture to develop an effective research programme that is coherent, well-organised and deliverable

  Knowledge of Machine Learning, Scripting, and Automation as it applies to BIM in professional practice.

  Connections to firms active in the use of BIM

  Ability to build professional networks to assist in BIM application research

  Ability to plan and manage projects.
