Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute

Postdoctoral Scientist – Skin Cancer and Ageing Group

Manchester

£31,604 – £41,929 dependent upon qualifications and experience

Fixed term position until 31 August 2024

Ref: MI/21/18_2

About the role:

A Melanoma Research Alliance/Rosetress Trust funded Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr Amaya Virós to identify the biological mechanisms responsible for poor outcome in elderly skin cancer patients and to discover new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of metastatic melanoma. The project aims to focus and integrate extensive metabolic and immune knowledge we have already gained from in vitro and in vivo models of melanoma. We aim to understand how modifications in age and diet will modify the tumour microenvironment and the tumour cell, and will leverage patient derived genomic, immunologic, epidemiologic and clinical data to translate this to clinical benefit for skin cancer patients.

About you:

You will have a PhD in cell biology, immunology, or a relevant field. A background in metabolism, immune ageing, bioinformatics and use of in vivo cancer models is desirable but not required.
