The School of Psychology is seeking to hire a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with expertise in online data collection, advanced knowledge and experience of multivariate statistical analysis methods, and experience with the R software environment for statistical computing. The successful candidate will have a strong background of conducting high quality empirical research, preferably with experience with sexual offending research and open science practices.

The job will involve completing a series of studies from a funded project titles “Understanding and improving help seeking by people at risk of online child sexual exploitation and abuse” and funded by the End Violence Partnership and the Technology Coalition. The project has two overarching aims reflected in two complementary research phases: 1) to establish and test a psychological model of help-seeking behaviour among people at risk of perpetrating online child sexual exploitation or abuse, and 2) to empirically test whether systematically varying online messaging around help-resources can increase help-seeking among those at risk.

The successful candidate will work with principal investigator, Dr Caoilte Ó Ciardha and will assist with study pre-registration, participant recruitment, conducting the proposed research, statistical analysis, and writing up the results for publication in academic journals. You will also be responsible preparing and presenting study findings for dissemination to academic and stakeholder audiences (including organisations providing support services for people at risk of online child exploitation and abuse as well as tech industry partners).

As Post-Doctoral Research Associate you will:

  Develop and conduct the research as indicated in the designated project phases, in line with the grant proposal

  Contribute to the writing of research papers addressing the project's research aims in collaboration with the PI

  Assist in the running of the project steering committee which includes an international panel of researchers as well as charity and technology stakeholders

  Undertake other scholarly activities to promote the project, nationally and internationally, including presenting the research at conferences and workshops

To be successful in the role you will have/be:

  A doctorate (completed or submitted), or equivalent qualification or experience in psychology or an allied subject

  An excellent record of publications in quality peer reviewed journals, commensurate with stage of career

  Experience of conducting advanced multivariate statistical analyses including structural equation modelling

  Experience of using online survey tools (e.g.,Qualtrics)
