美国匹斯堡大学器官芯片多个博士后职位

时间:2021-09-28来源:博士研究生招聘网

BACKGROUND:

The Benam Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh has IMMEDIATE OPENING for multiple Postdoctoral Research Fellows in the following areas:

Area #1: Down Syndrome and Organs-on-Chips

Area #2: Stem Cell-derived Organs-on-Chips

Area #3: Microbiome-populated Organs-on-Chips

Our laboratory applies a multidisciplinary approach to design and develop bio-inspired technologies that enable us to elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern tissue pathology or offer protection during lung injury. Our research lies at the intersection of respiratory medicine, immuno-microbiology, tissue engineering, and systems and synthetic biology. Ultimately, our goal is to discover novel druggable targets and personalized diagnostics using microengineered systems that recreate complex human organ pathophysiology in vitro. Our lab pursues high-risk research, is translationally focused, and we thrive to positively impact human health and our society through our discoveries.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED COMPETENCIES:

•The successful applicants are expected to be highly motivated, driven and collaborative, and have demonstrated the ability to independently complete research projects.

•They are expected to participate actively as team members while working creatively to develop their respective technologies and biologically validate them.

•They are also expected to publish their developments and scientific finding in leading journals and present at scientific meetings.

•They will design and execute experiments and analyze experimental data, and communicate the findings with the team, the PI (Dr. Benam), and during Departmental/Division/Institutional Meetings when required and in a timely manner.

•The positions above require candidates who are detail-oriented and interested in problem solving, have great communication (written & verbal) skills and are willing to taking emerging tissue microengineering technologies to the next level.

•The applicants are expected to have the skills and self-motivation to perform experiments quickly, analyze, interpret, graph and present data.

•Candidates with strong background in Down syndrome, lung cell biology, stem cells and tissue engineering are highly encouraged to apply.

•Familiarity with microfluidic systems and chip microfabrication is a plus, but not essential. Successful applicants will hold a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD.

WHY JOIN US:

•Access to dedicated equipment purchased by the our lab (such as a custom-built confocal microscope for imaging cells within microfluidic systems, a 5-laser flow cytometry instrument, a fully equipped rheometer, chip microfabrication setups, multiple programmable plasma etching machines, a 5-axis micro-milling machine, multiple SLA and FDM 3D-printers, a submicron-precise 3D-bioprinter, and many others) as well as extensive resources available through University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Engineering, Campus-wide Core Facilities, Pittsburgh Vascular Medicine Institute, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Division of Pulmonary, Asthma and Critical Care Medicine, and Department of Bioengineering.

•Salary commensurate with experience and negotiable.

•Our commitment to career development and professional growth of recruited candidates.

•Excellent benefits package.
