Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)

A POSTDOC research opportunity is available immediately to study the biology of pancreatic cancer within the Mary Ann and Charles LaBahn Pancreatic Cancer Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin (https://www.mcw.edu/departments/pancreatic-cancer). This position will be supervised by the director of the program, Dr. Susan Tsai, while collaborating with investigators who recently discovered the downstream regulation of MEK/ERK pathway by mortalin/HSPA9 facilitates tumorigenesis (PMID: 32156782; PMID: 33440231).

Future projects for this postdoctoral fellowship would leverage the existing resources of Program’s established biorepository to investigate how the molecular mechanisms underlying these processes may differ with tumor subtypes (classical versus basal-like), with specific focuses on the metabolic and signaling pathways regulated by mortalin. The goal of the projects are to better define targetable pathways to address chemoresistance and refine precision medicine for pancreatic cancer.

Prior experience in cancer cell biological studies using patient-derived cultures (cell culture, organoids) and animal xenografts are desired.  In addition, experiences with cell signaling and metabolism studies, and pathological analysis will also be preferred.
