The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team in the Developing Language and Literacy Lab ( https:// www. tc.columbia.edu/dll-lab/ ) directed by Dr. Carol Scheffner Hammer. The team studies cultural and environmental influences on young children's early language and literacy development, develops assessment instruments for dual language learners (DLLS), and develops and tests the efficacy of home- and school-based language and literacy interventions.

Job Summary/Basic Function: Teachers College, Columbia University has an opening for a Post-doctoral Fellow/Research Scientist. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team in the Developing Language and Literacy Lab ( https:// www. tc.columbia.edu/dll-lab/ ) directed by Dr. CaroScheffner Hammer. The team studies cultural and environmental influences on young children's early language and literacy development, develops assessment instruments for dual language learners (DLLS), and develops and tests the efficacy of home- and school-based language and literacy interventions.

The successful candidate for this position will work on a various research projects including projects that focus on understanding home and classroom factors that impact bilingual children's language and literacy development, understanding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on teachers' practices, and understanding teachers' usage of strategies to promote children's language in their classrooms.

In addition, the candidate will work on a project in which a professional development (PD) program for early childhood educators of DLLs will be implemented and evaluated. The PD trains teachers to use high quality language and literacy practices to support children's school readiness. The candidate will work with program administrators, educators and parents as well as work as part of the research team.

Minimum Qualifications: • PhD in speech-language pathology, developmental psychology, linguistics, or related field. • Training in language development, dual language learners' language and literacy development, and/or interventions that support young children's language and literacy development • Experience working on research projects, including managing data collection and databases, conducting data analyses (qualitative and quantitative) • Strong interpersonal, leadership, collaborative, organizational, and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with early childhood teachers and bilingual children and families • Fluency in Spanish preferred
