The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute – (Leibniz-HKI, www. leibniz-hki.de) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. Postdoctoral Researcher (f/div/m) in Fungal Infection Biology
for two years initially.
Research Areas: Successful candidates will investigate molecular mechanism of interaction between the human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus and the immune system within the framework of the BMBF-funded InfectControl 2020 project AnDiPath (www. infectcontrol.de).
Main topics of the project are:
Study on phagolysosomes and their importance for antifungal defence
Characterization of secreted A. fumigatus proteins in host-pathogen interaction
Establishment of an immunoassay for the detection of A. fumigatus antigen-specific antibodies.
Candidate´s profile: ·
Doctoral degree in in biology, biochemistry, life sciences or a related discipline
A good background in standard techniques of molecular biology, microbiology as well as infection biology is expected
Knowledge of and hands-on experience in cell culture techniques, recombinant protein production, and immunoassays are advantageous
Ability to perform team-oriented as well as independent work
Good communication skills in English are a must
