Job assignments

To further strengthen our research and teaching in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual capital management, we seek to employ 1 candidate for post-doctoral scholars.

The position as post-doctoral research scholar is primarily aimed towards giving individuals who have recently received their PhD degree the possibility to develop their scientific skills through a concentration on research. The job assignment is primarily oriented towards engaging in research but can, at maximum 20% of the employment, also include teaching and other duties.

Professor McKelvey's Distinguished Professors Programme, financed for 10 years by the Swedish Research Council is the research group, within which this post- doctoral scholar will work. Including a group of scholars at the department and internationally, the post-doctoral scholar will be part of her research programme on knowledge-intensive entrepreneurial ecosystems. This Distinguished Professor's Program has three specific goals: 1) Conceptualize knowledge intensive entrepreneurial ecosystems; 2) Analyze empirically the dynamic relationships involving collective and individual action between knowledge intensive entrepreneurs (as individuals) and the surrounding institutions, firms and organizations; and 3) Explain changes in these knowledge-intensive entrepreneurial ecosystems over time.

In doing so, we study knowledge creation and knowledge transfer between firms and between firms and universities. We do so by studying empirical phenomena primarily within Sweden, and within these three industries: transportation industry (including electro-mobility, autonomous systems and AI), life sciences (including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical technology) and sports / sports technology.

The post-doctoral scholar will work within Professor McKelvey's Distinguished Research program, within a project focused on transformation of the ecosystems over time and knowledge transfer. This project will gather data, and conduct a comparative quantitative analysis within life sciences and transportation industry in Sweden. The focus is upon how new knowledge such as AI and analytics as well as innovations are created in collaboration between large companies, entrepreneurial companies and universities. The project tasks include collecting large amounts of data and also conducting quantitative analysis of academic engagement between industry and universities, with this comparison of industries.

The research tasks will include using advanced methods as related to the theoretical literature in our subject area. In this research programme, the theories we use focus upon innovation and entrepreneurship from an evolutionary economics and Schumpeterian perspectives on industrial dynamics, technology diffusion, public policy, digitalization and entrepreneurship. The work will involve the collection of data and analysis of large-scale databases but may include some elements of qualitative case studies. The tasks can also involve elements of diffusing knowledge, such as through teaching and through presenting the implications for firms, universities and public policy makers.
