Department Information: The Department of Chemistry consists of a well-rounded research community with cutting-edge expertise in a wide variety of modern disciplines including analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, and biochemistry.
Job Summary: The Pohl Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University is taking applications for postdoctoral research positions. The position offers an opportunity to develop and apply cutting- edge synthesis techniques to address imminent challenges in the design and synthesis of bioactive glycans and glycopeptides. Motivated applicants with PhD training in any area of synthetic chemistry will be considered. Some experience with the Python programming language or lab automation is strongly preferred. The Pohl Lab is a dynamic multidisciplinary laboratory environment. Applicants will emerge with a skill set that is equally relevant to academia and industry. Trainees will receive regular guidance to ensure progress is made toward their career goals, regardless of whether trainees are pursuant of traditional or alternative careers. Trainees are also afforded the scheduling flexibility needed to maintain an appropriate work life balance. The successful applicant will play an integral role in our interdisciplinary lab. The applicant will be expected to design and execute independent research involving multistep synthetic routes in automated flow and batch systems. The applicant will also be expected to take a leadership role in the lab, demonstrate good communication skills, and work productively as a team member. Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in synthetic chemistry, or any related discipline.

Additional Qualifications
Experience with characterization techniques, including NMR, to identify small molecules is preferred. Proficiency in the computational language python and experience with lab automation is preferred. Experience working with carbohydrates or proteins/peptides is also desirable.
