Title Research Associate or Postdoctoral Position-Hundley Lab

Open – Research Associate or Postdoctoral Position – Hundley Lab Indiana University School of Medicine-Bloomington Medical Sciences Program, Bloomington Campus, Indiana University is seeking applications for an open full-time position in the laboratory of Dr. Heather Hundley (www. hundleylab.org). The Hundley laboratory is currently supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF). Research in the Hundley lab focuses on understanding how cellular RNAs are modified and RNA-mediated gene regulation in human cells and the model organism C. elegans. Primary responsibilities are to plan, conduct, and interpret research projects focused on the molecular mechanisms that regulate RNA editing and the impacts of RNA editing on gene expression and organismal biology. In addition, work will include using both immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry methods to monitor tissue specific gene expression in C. elegans, purifying and testing the activity of RNA editing enzymes, examining RNA editing, mRNA binding by RNA editing proteins as well as organismal phenotypes. Techniques commonly performed in the laboratory include; DNA/RNA isolation, traditional and quantitative real-time PCR, DNA cloning, Sanger and high-throughput sequencing, CRISPR, immunoprecipitation, insect cell culture and protein purification. Basic Qualifications

Candidate should possess good interpersonal and communication skills; excellent organizational skills, strong work ethic and a high motivation to learn. Applicants with a doctoral degree will be candidates for a Postdoctoral position and applicants with a masters' degree in biochemistry, biology, biotechnology or related scientific field will be candidates for a Research Associate position.
