Job Description
Job #JPF06414
Description
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning December 2020.
The postdoctoral scholar position is in the area of groundwater contaminant fate and transport with a particular emphasis on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The ideal candidate should have knowledge and background in one or a combination of the following fields:
Computational modeling of groundwater flow and transport with experience using current state-of-the-art models on parallel architectures (e.g., PFLOTRAN, TOUGHREACT, or similar).
Laboratory experiments aimed at quantifying flow and transport in saturated and unsaturated porous media.
Fate and transport of PFAS in the subsurface including reactions that transform PFAS in the subsurface and the mechanisms that control their migration.
Geostatistical techniques used to analyze and quantify subsurface heterogeneity from available data and synthesize representative realizations of complex geologic formations.
Uncertainty analysis involving complex groundwater flow and transport simulations and available observational data.
