英国弗朗西斯·克里克研究所博士后职位

The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a unique non-university research center which is dedicated to the subject dementia and all its areas, as well as other neurodegenerative diseases. The center compasses the full spectrum of fundamental research through population sciences to health care research. The DZNE stands for excellence in research and science management, translation of scientific results into practice, interdisciplinarity and internationalization. It is a research center within the Helmholtz Organization of German research centers. With over 1000 employees from 60 nations, spread over 10 sites, the DZNE is one of the national and international leading research centers in its research field.

The DZNE in Bonn is looking for a

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) in the field of Optical Physics, Bioengineering, Biology, Biophotonics and Intravital Imaging

Code 1846/2020/8

within the Neuroimmunology and Imaging Group led by Prof. Martin Fuhrmann.

Project description:

The Neuroimmunology and Imaging group is interested in understanding the relationship of microglia and neurons at the subcellular level of dendritic spines (ERC-CoG MicroSynCom) during learning and memory processes in the hippocampus. We use cutting edge two-photon/three-photon and two-photon STED (stimulated emission depletion) for high resolution in vivo imaging in the hippocampus to analyze microglia synapse interactions (Pfeiffer&Poll et al. 2018, eLIFE). The imaging experiments are integrated with optogenetics, chemogenetics, histological and behavior experiments.

Your profile:

Successful candidates should hold a PhD in Physics (Optics), Bioengineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related discipline. As a prerequisite the candidate should have experience with super resolution microscopy based on STED and/or multiphoton excitation. Programming skills and knowledge of the automation and integration of optoelectronic/optomechanical devices into microscopes will be beneficial. Ideally, the candidate should have experience with animal experiments and intravital imaging. Creative, highly motivated applicants who are willing to develop new imaging techniques and enjoy working independently as a member of a great team in a stimulating scientific environment are encouraged to apply.

We offer:

• An interesting and challenging task in a research center that works on the future topics of health research.

• An international environment characterized by a strong focus on science and research.

• A high potential for the individual development of our employees.

• Targeted personnel development.

• Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD Bund).

You will obtain special skills and knowledge for your scientific qualification during your activities at DZNE. The DZNE is an equal opportunity employer. It especially welcomes and encourages disabled individuals to apply.

The position is available from September 2020 and initially limited to three years with the possibility of further extension. Interviewing will begin immediately until the position is filled.

Interested candidates should apply by sending a single PDF file including a CV (German applicants should include copies of their Abitur, Bachelor and Master certificates), a cover letter stating research interests and two references.
