  Job Description

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Department of Medicine, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, in Florida for a translational research project studying the role of LMO2 in DNA repair pathways in lymphomas and leukemias. The laboratory focuses on studying of pathogenesis of lymphomas and the current project focuses on the role of LMO2 in this process. The studies will build on the recent publication from the laboratory (Cancer Cell. 2019 Sep 16;36(3):237-249) and is NIH funded. The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of University of Miami.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with in-depth knowledge and extensive skills in cellular and molecular biology to join the lab. The Postdoctoral Associate should demonstrate expertise in various lab techniques including cell culture and molecular biology assays (molecular cloning, cell proliferation assay, subpopulation analysis by FACS, stable and transient transfection, use of shRNA and viral constructs), preparation and analysis of DNA and RNA (preparation of plasmids, regular PCR and RT-PCR), chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays, biochemical assays (ELISA, immunoblotting, Co-IP). Prior experience in DNA repair studies in lymphoma are is preferred but not required. Prior experience in molecular biology, biochemistry is required. It is expected that the candidate will have the ability to work independently, design experiments with appropriate controls, collect and tabulate data, publish and present results, as well as to participate in the training of graduate and rotation students in a research laboratory setting. Projects will include in vitro and in vivo studies on the function of LMO2 in DNA repair pathways that contribute to genetic instability, improved response to therapy and characterization of candidate genes interacting with using in vitro and in vivo systems (LMO2 transgenic animals are already available).

  Minimum Qualifications
