英国国王学院博士后职位

Postdoctoral Research Associate – Biomaterial Design for Nanomedicine

Centre for Craniofacial and Regenerative Biology

Ref. 024268

The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £38,304 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years.

This is a full-time post.

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher for a 2-year fixed-term contract, starting March 1st, 2019, to work on an ERC-funded project to develop new approaches to nanomaterial design for topical delivery of biologicals. We are looking for someone with a strong experience in microfabrication of silicon and flexible materials, as well as electron microscopy characterization. Experience with porous silicon and surface functionalization are desirable. Experience with drug delivery, optical microscopy and biointerfaces are preferred.

The typical candidate will have:

· PhD in engineering (bio, mechanical, electronic), physics, or related field.

· significant cleanroom experience.

· Electron microscopy experience.

· wet lab experience.

· Evidence of productivity through high quality publications.

· Strong work ethics.

· Independence ant team-work ability.

The Nanomaterials and Biointerfaces group of Dr. Chiappini is based in the Centre for Craniofacial and Regenerative Biology at King’s College London. The group combines nanotechnology, bioengineering and cell biology to develop nanomaterials for regenerative medicine and diagnostics. This project is funded by an ERC Starting Grant. This exciting project is to develop new approaches to design nanomaterials for the local targeted delivery of biologicals to tissues. The aims of the project are to identify the design parameters and the fabrication protocols for an efficient topical drug delivery system, and the optimization of highly efficient delivery in tissue. The work follows up from our recent publications on nanodelivery strategies for nucleic acids (Chiappini et al. Nature Materials 2015) and the increased understanding of how design parameters affect their performance (Gopal et al. Advanced Materials 2019, Hansel et al ACS Nano 2019).

The selection process will include a panel interview, an assessment, a presentation.

Informal inquiries are strongly encouraged. ciro.chiappini@kcl.ac.uk
