美国斯坦福大学博士后职位

  Postdoctoral Positions Available

Durmus Lab at Stanford University, headed by Dr. Gozde Durmus (Department of Radiology, Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford) is seeking open and honest, creative, dedicated, and team-oriented individuals to join our research team (https://gdurmus.people.stanford.edu/). Our lab prioritizes inclusion and diversity to achieve excellence in research and to foster an intellectual climate that is welcoming and nurturing. Two positions are available for energetic, self-driven and passionate postdoctoral fellow candidates. Applicants are expected to be technically competent in a discipline relevant to our mission and vision.

Our lab creates new platform technologies to address real-world problems in biology and medicine. Our research has led to the first demonstration of magnetic levitation of single cells with broad applications in biology and medicine (https://www.pnas.org/content/112/28/E3661). This is an entirely new method for single cell research and created a new field of investigation for biological systems, setting a new dimension that has yet to be explored. We apply magnetic levitation-based sorting technologies for wide range of applications in single-cell research, such as, biomarker-free detection of circulating tumor cells from blood; high-throughput drug screening; and rapid detection and monitoring of drug resistance in real-time. Our lab offers a highly multidisciplinary environment focused on translational cancer research and collaborations between molecular biologists, clinicians, and engineers.

The postdoc will lead projects related to developing novel, label-free liquid biopsy tools for the detection of extremely rare circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cell clusters and utilize single-cell sequencing methods to study the biology of rare cell populations and understand their role in metastasis.

  Qualifications

  ·         Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biology or Genetics or a related discipline.

  ·         Strong background/expertise in these specific areas: cancer biology, single-cell transcriptomics, cell sorting, magnetics, microfluidics.

  ·         Experience with cellular and molecular techniques (i.e, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy), cell-based imaging, computational image and video analysis is preferred.

  ·         Strong experience in single-cell RNA-seq and data analysis is a plus.

  ·         Keeping up with the latest scientific updates on the field of single cell research, cancer biology, microfluidics, biomedical engineering, regenerative medicine, and cell sorting tools to communicate better and influence other lab members.

  ·         Maintaining collaborative external and internal communications.

  ·         Excellent communication skills, and fluency in written and verbal English, are essential.

  ·         Successful applicants possess a variety of qualities, including: great interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast- paced team environment.

Interested candidates should send inquiries to Dr. Durmus at gdurmus@stanford.edu

Full application should include your CV, research portfolio (research/work experience, technical skills, publications, patents, etc.), personal statement describing your scientific interests, potential resonances with our research, and contacts for three references.

Interviews with candidates will be conducted until the position is filled.

Stanford University is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer, committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce. It welcomes applications from women, members of minority groups, veterans, persons with disabilities, and others who would bring additional dimensions to the university’s research and teaching mission.
