瑞典Karolinska Institutet博士后职位

The Department of Neuroscience includes several research groups working on different aspects of nervous system function, both under normal conditions and in various disease states. Research projects include a broad range of studies on the molecular and cellular levels, networks of neurons, and the organization of the nervous system as a whole. The Department has a flat organization with 40 researchers, of which 24 are full professors and 65 PhD students.

Teaching represents a fundamental activity at the Department, which participates in several undergraduate courses and postgraduate education programs. Each year approximately 15 students receive their PhD from our Department and many of our graduates have gone onto distinguished careers in the academic or private sector.

  Research group

The laboratory of professor Carlos Ibanez is now seeking talented and enthusiastic researchers with expertise in molecular and cellular neuroscience to advance investigations on the functions and mechanisms of growth factor receptor signaling and physiology in the nervous system. The research entails studies of different receptor systems in neuronal and nervous system function using molecular methods, cell culture models and mutant mice carrying specific mutations in these receptors.

  Entry requirements

Candidates will be accepted at the postdoctoral level with a PhD awarded preferably within the last 3 years. Strong and documented expertise in molecular, cellular and histological methods of analysis as applied to studies of mouse models in the area of neuroscience is an absolute requirement for consideration.

Successful applicants shall be well versed in mouse brain neuroanatomy and physiology. Expertise in analysis of mouse behavior will be an additional advantage. The successful candidate is expected to be sufficiently independent to formulate questions, design experiments and perform research.

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.

A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.

  Type of scholarship

The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.

  Application process

An application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

  ·         A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work

  ·         A complete list of publications

  ·         A summary of current work (no more than one page)

Applicants should as well arrange to have at least two confidential letters of reference sent independently by referees to that email address.

The application is to be submitted on the Varbi recruitment system, no later than September 15th.

Karolinska Institutet is one of the world’s leading medical universities. Its vision is to significantly contribute to the improvement of human health. Karolinska Institutet accounts for the single largest share of all academic medical research conducted in Sweden and offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

Pursuant to the regulations of the Swedish National Archives, applications are kept on file for two years after the appointment has gained legal force. The regulations do not apply to attachments that have been printed or otherwise published.

Karolinska Institutet strives to provide a workplace that has approximately the same number of women and men, is free of discrimination and offers equal opportunity to everyone.
