  Postdoc

  Description:

  The DKTK/DKFZ Research Group led by Dr. Henner Farin at the Georg-Speyer-Haus (Frankfurt) is inviting applications for a motivated researcher to study patient-specific drug responses in colon cancer. The project builds up on concerted efforts at Georg-Speyer-Haus and the University Cancer Center (UCT) Frankfurt, where a living biobank of tumor organoids has been established and characterized by whole exome and transcriptome sequencing.

  We are searching for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow for a project that is funded by the Frankfurt Cancer Institute for 1 year with option for extension. The researcher will be responsible for setting up a semi-automated drug screening platform to characterize established colon cancer organoids. 3D co-culture models with primary fibroblasts will be performed to study drug resistance mechanisms. The researcher will develop assays, analyze and integrate data generated at the Genomics & Proteomics Core Facility at the DKFZ in Heidelberg and manage the collaboration with local, national and international partners. We offer a highly innovative project and intensive training in a dynamic, international research team.

  Your profile:

  Requirements are a valid master’s degree in life science, a PhD degree and previous experience in pharmacology and/or tumor biology. Expertize in mammalian cell culture (stem cells/ 3D cultures/ primary cells) is mandatory, and interest in bioinformatics (R programming), and a theoretical background in genome, transcriptome and/or proteome analysis are highly desired. Successful candidates should be well-organized, have a goal-oriented work attitude and team working skills.
