As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus and lung diseases. Helmholtz Zentrum München is a member of the Helmholtz Association, Germany's largest scientific organization.

The Research Unit in Functional Genomics of Mitochondria, headed by Dr. Fabiana Perocchi, is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the newly established Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich (www.helmholtz-muenchen.de/hdc/index.html). We are interested in characterizing the role of mitochondrial metabolism, calcium signaling and inter-organelle cross talk in metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases. To this goal, we combine genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics approaches with traditional genetic, biochemical, and physiological techniques applied to yeast, mouse models, human cell lines and patient samples.
