POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
Mentis Lab
Motor Neuron Center
We are aiming to recruit two postdoctoral scientists in the lab of Dr. George Mentis (www.mentislab.org) at the Motor Neuron Center at Columbia University. One of the research projects aims to study the genesis of locomotor behavior during normal development, by focusing on excitatory spinal interneurons. The second project involves studying the mechanisms of sensory-motor synapse elimination during normal development and in neurodegenerative diseases.
We are seeking candidates with a strong background in neuroscience with expertise in physiological assays, including patch clamp as well as optogenetics, coupled with experience with morphological methods and confocal microscopy. Candidates with a PhD in Neuroscience or Physiology are strongly encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter indicating their research interests and experience, a CV and contact details to Dr. George Mentis (gzmentis@columbia.edu).
The Motor Neuron Center (MNC) at Columbia University (www.columbiamnc.org) brings together 40 basic and clinical science groups working on different aspects of motor neuron biology and disease. One of the strengths of the MNC is a membership housed in multiple departments throughout Columbia University. This allows bringing together the incredible depth of highly relevant and complementary expertise of many Columbia scientists in order to facilitate breakthroughs in the field of motor neuron research.
Columbia University takes affirmative action to ensure equal opportunity.
