Research Associate in Photoacoustic Imaging and Physiological Sensing x 2 Positions
The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £33,686 to £35,548 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research positions to develop novel optical, ultrasonic, and photoacoustic sensors for guiding minimally invasive medical procedures. The project involves developing novel imaging and sensing systems and conducting in vivo imaging studies. It offers an opportunity to undertake translational research within an internationally leading research group, in close collaboration with clinical partners at local hospitals.
Successful candidates will join the Photoacoustic Imaging Group within the Biomedical Optics Laboratory at UCL.
The posts are funded by a Healthcare Technologies Challenge Award from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). They are available immediately, for 2 years in the first instance.
Qualified applicants should have a PhD (or about to submit a PhD) in physics, biomedical engineering, optics, medical physics, or a related discipline, and a demonstrated publication record. Fluency with data acquisition and signal processing are required. Programming experience with Matlab and/or Labview would be advantageous. Creativity and a willingness to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team are essential.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD. If about to submit a PhD, the appointment will be at Grade 6B (£29,485 – £31,091) salary per annum, inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
