  Job Description

The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School’s LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes invites applications for postdoctoral fellowship in Bioinformatics, Cancer Experimental Biology and Single Cell Variomics. We have a longstanding interest in the fundamental question on genotype-phenotype relationships. In the big data era of precision medicine, we integrate computational network biology and high-throughput experimental approaches to identify genetic biomarkers and synthetic lethality combinations underlying cancer and immunity in the laboratory of Prof. Song (Stephen) Yi. Using state-of-the-art technologies, the postdoctoral research will be performed in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment with pioneering basic science experts and clinical physician scientists, which provide ideal career development opportunities. Prof. Yi is a tenure-track faculty member of The University of Texas at Austin and a joint faculty member at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is also Director of Bioinformatics of the Developmental Therapeutics Lab, and affiliated faculty with Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Institute of Cellular and Molecular Biology. Successful candidates will also be jointly supervised by Dr. Gail Eckhardt, MD, Chair of Oncology and inaugural Director of the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes. Our recent representative publications include Cell (2015), 161: 647-60; Nature Rev. Genetics (2017), 18: 395-410; Cell (2017), 168: 856-66; Cancer Cell (2018), 33: 450-462; Nature Commun. (2018), 9: 1317; Trends in Biochem Sci (2018), 43:576-592.

Experience with cancer genomics, single cell sequencing, and next-generation sequencing analysis is a plus. Candidates will perform bioinformatics data analyses and functional mechanistic studies using cell lines and Patient Derived Xenograft (PDX) models.

  Application process:

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter describing your past research experience, a curriculum vitae, and the contact information of three references via The University of Texas at Austin job board.
