Position Description

The incumbent will join the founding team of a leading science and technology university, in the process of establishing a center of excellence in entrepreneurship and innovation in Guangdong.

Duties and Responsibilities

·Assist with GTEC leadership to draft proposal/grant applications in applying for various governmental/public funding programs, and local/regional accreditations (mass incubation space, incubator, university technology park, etc.).

·Manage the operations of the GTEC’s entrepreneurship endeavor through its start-up and growth phases; to assist in growing and scaling promising ideas and opportunities; help to evaluate ideas and technologies; conduct feasibility reviews; connect to resources across campus, across disciplines, and in the region.

·Proactively identify and deliver opportunities for GTIIT entrepreneurship stakeholders (faculty members, students, graduates) to access the very best support from the wider University and local, regional, national and international communities – including advisors on business, legal, IP and access-to-finance matters.

·Understand the Guangdong entrepreneurship ecosystem, to develop a vibrant and sustainable environment and support network - leveraging existing and new networks - that stimulates entrepreneurship and enables active learning.

·Work with faculty/researchers; design and organize delivery of a comprehensive program of workshops, training and networking events to GTIIT’s industry relations portfolio, and deliver innovative entrepreneurial support programs of the highest caliber.

·Undertake other duties which may reasonably be required by the Director of Innovation Center or nominee that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

Required Job Specifications

·Required qualification: master degree from an internationally recognized university. Preferably majoring in legal or relevant fields.

·Demonstrated ability to cultivate, build and maintain strong working relationships with start-ups, entrepreneurs, mentors, universities, research institutions, industry experts, associations, local & provincial government, funding agencies and startup investment community.

·Required work experience: 5 years relevant experiences and prior experiences with entrepreneurship/incubation activity. Prior work experiences in academic setting or institution is desirable.

·Experience in startup environment as founder, team member, or consultant is preferred.

·Experience in venture capital or private equity, and knowledge and experience in commercialization process is preferred.

·Good planning and organizing skills.

·Good communication and collaboration skill.
