The Liberal Arts Division (LAD) at UM-SJTU JI, located in Shanghai, China invites applications for multiple full-time lecturer positions in Academic Writing and Intel-lectual Breadth. The position offers an exciting opportunity to teach some of the highest-achieving students in China while living in Shanghai, a world-class, cosmopolitan metropolis. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the continuing development of a young liberal arts program in collaboration with an energetic and diverse community of faculty members. The UM-SJTU JI is an English-based higher education institute founded in 2006, in collaboration between the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao Tong Universi-ty. Both partner universities are fully committed to developing JI as a world-class insti-tute for engineering education. In 2014, JI was the first Chinese institution to win the prestigious Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education—one of the highest honors in international higher education. | Teach Academic Writing courses and Intellectual Breadth courses depending on qualifications, institutional needs, and faculty interest Prepare and conduct lectures, design homework, and supervise examinations Maintain office hours Guide Teaching Assistants for recitation classes and grading Maintain a course website containing teaching materials and relevant course information Participate in program development and other common non-teaching, service duties |

| Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in relevant field, or equivalent combination of experience and disciplinary background Two years of full-time or equivalent university teaching experience in Aca-demic Writing Experience designing a self-standing, evidence-based, Academic Writing course Interest or experience in China and/or in working with Chinese students Additional Qualifications Welcome but Not Required PhD or equivalent terminal degree in relevant discipline Experience teaching advanced non-native English speakers Experience teaching engineering students |
